1) Collar:
The M35's collar shape was nearly right-angled, but the M40's collar shape was changed to the long, sharp shape commonly seen on U.S. Army clothing during the war.
2) Label-Size:
The size label is sewn into the top edge of the collar when it is attached. The Kids Model is available in two sizes: 25 (Small) and 29 (Medium).
3) Pocket-Close:
The pockets are closed with flaps and buttons. The slightly wider bottom design makes them easy to use, and shows the seriousness of the US Army work denim that was adopted just before the war.
4) Pocket Flap-Open:
The pocket opening is reinforced with a stitch that is parallel to the bottom curve. The top left and right edges of the pocket are reinforced with bar tacks.
5) Chain Stitch-Side:
The width of a double chain stitch is 5/16 inch(approximately 8 mm). Chain stitching was used on the M40 Jacket for everything, including the body, sleeve seams, armholes, and cuff finishing.
6) Contract Label-Position:
A contract label is sewn into the center of the right pocket opening at the top.
7) Contract Label:
A contract label printed with the Manufacturer's name, date of Standardised (August 7, 1940), date of Contract (December 13, 1940), and etc.
8) Label-Kids:
Same Kids Label is sewn onto all Kids Models.
9) Army Metal Button:
This zinc cast metal button (approximately 17mm diameter) was adopted by the US Army in the early 1930s and used until the early 1940s. This button was molded from original buttons, so the word "reproduction" no longer suits it.
10) Buttonhole:
The buttonhole type that has been traditionally used in the US Army.
11) Denim-Surface:
The 10.5 oz military denim has indigo rope dyed warp threads visible on the surface, and the unique color and feel develops with each wash and use.
12) Denim-Back:
10.5 oz military denim with a unique top-dyed texture that features ring-spun yarns (weft threads) on the reverse side.
